KARACHI:

The Sindh Assembly adopted a resolution recommending the Sindh government take precautionary measures against the Ebola virus by establishing isolation wards to quarantine Ebola patients, have Ebola screening desks and to approach the federal government to setup such desks at airports and railway stations.

The resolution was moved by PPP’s Ghazala Sayal. She also asked the provincial government to start awareness sessions for the medical fraternity to learn about the virus and how to protect themselves and people from it.

Around a dozen bills were also introduced during Monday’s session. Dr Mandhro moved the bills and said that the next step would be to pass them in order to turn them into the law. “Every MPA complains that we make laws in haste,” he said. “Therefore with the introduction of these bills, we are giving each lawmaker the chance to study them and suggest amendments.”

The bills which were introduced included:  the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (Sindh administration) Bill, Sindh Epidemic Disease Bill, Sindh Mass Transit Authority Bill, Sindh Senior Citizens Bill, Sindh Eye Surgery Bill, Sindh Tuberculosis Notification Bill, Sindh Allopathic System bill, Sindh Arms (Amendment bill), Sindh Pharmacy Council Bill, Sindh Medical and Dental Council Bill, Sindh Nursing Bill and Sindh Condominium Bill.
